Dear Baby Ziggies, If you were employed and in a motor vehicle accident which caused injuries which left you unable to work, you should be eligible to receive Short Term Disability benefits thru either your employer's company plan or a state plan. Check your with your state dept. of labor regarding this. Your husband's income should not factor into this either. Also check the following link for tips on legal matters re divorce. im tryin to get on disabitly, but because my divorece is not final yet they are saying my soon to be ex husband makes to much money even tho we have been seperated for over 6 months and he is in iraq. because i have a monthly income from child support, at least im supposed to , i just never get it. my lawyer is trying to get it were i can get on disabilty tho. why she said she cant help is beyond me i thought that was what she was there for.

Because of your accident I find it hard to believe that you don't qualify for anything (and I'm quite surprised that your lawyer said so) One of the things that I would recommend that you do is check with your nearest social services agency. They would know of programs that could help you. Also too there are a lot of organizations that provide emergency funding to people who express need. Your social service agency should know of some of them. the others you can find by looking online.
